Aaron Weinbaum MBA, CFPS – Vizient
Speaker Bio
In his role as a Physical Environment Accreditation Advisor, Aaron
provides content expertise on CMS Conditions of Participation
(CoPs) and The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
His health care engineering expertise provides organizations with
insights and solutions related to safety, quality, process
improvement and compliance activities.
Prior to joining Vizient, Aaron worked 13 years as a part time Life
Safety Surveyor for the Joint Commission and 25 years with Duke
University Health System as Director of Safety and Environmental
Health providing leadership associated with the hospital
Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management
functions. Aaron’s career experience also includes Maritime
Compliance Specialist, Fire Fighter/EMT, Haz-Mat First Responder,
and an internship with the Tennessee Department of Labor with the
OSHA compliance team inspecting facilities and construction sites
for compliance with safety and health regulations including
workplace air quality.
Aaron earned his MBA from Elon University and his Bachelor of
Science in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology/Industrial Risk
Management from Eastern Kentucky University. Aaron is a certified
Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS/NFPA).
Aaron currently resides in North Carolina.
Class Description
This session explores how biomedical engineering programs align with CMS and Joint Commission expectations to support patient safety and survey readiness. Practical strategies for equipment inventory, preventive maintenance, AEM, deferred PMs, and UTL management are highlighted, with emphasis on defensible documentation, risk-based decisions, and QAPI integration.
